KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to planning, promoting, and funding an Independence Day celebration for the citizens of the greater Red Bank area.

The celebration in Red Bank, New Jersey centers around a spectacular fireworks display launched from barges on the Navesink River the evening of Saturday, July 3rd.

Fireworks on the Navesink River has been taking place for over fifty years, having initially been organized by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1959. In 1987, the Borough of Red Bank, in an effort to save taxpayer dollars, asked a group of local business owners and community leaders to form a committee to solicit the funds privately. Thus began KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink. In 2004, the organization became a 501(c) 3 charitable organization. The mission has grown into what now is KaBoomFest!,a two-day destination festival with fun events and activities to entertain the thousands of people who come to Red Bank, culminating with New Jersey’s largest fireworks display.

Working with the Borough of Red Bank, the festival is overseen by an all-volunteer committee in what has become a year-round commitment. The committee members donate their time and expertise to insure that the event is a special and unique experience for all who come to Red Bank to celebrate country and community.

No taxpayer monies go towards the costs of the event. Fundraising has become more and more an essential part of the work the committee performs. Expenses have escalated over the years, especially barge costs and insurance premiums.

KaBoomFest! relies on several sources for its revenue stream:

• A spring Cocktail Party fundraiser is held, complete with a ten-minute fireworks display, at the Monmouth Boat Club annually. Initiated eight years ago, the evening has grown to become a popular community networking event.
• The Illumination Wine Dinner, a five star dinner, is eagerly anticipated each year. It is an unique evening of fine wines and gourmet food in a spectacular setting overlooking the Red Bank Harbor.
• On July 3rd, the committee offers three premium riverfront venues in which to watch the fireworks. They include designated parking and a front row seat to watch the fireworks.
• An important source of revenue comes from corporate sponsorship. Without the support of national and local community-minded businesses, the committee could not provide the quality this cherished and highly-anticipated festival KaBoomFest! has become.
• And most important of all is the financial support of the thousands of individuals who send in a check or donate to the volunteers collecting at the festival.
