FROM THE DESK OF
Tim
Hearne
President
United Way of Monmouth County is extremely pleased to partner with KaBoom Fireworks on the Navesink as they offer this essay contest to children and young adults in our community. "Tough Times Can't Take Away Our Sparkle and Shine" is particularly poignant when reflecting on the number of local families impacted by our economy.
Having an organization like KaBoom! respond to the struggle of our local families, giving them the ability to voice not only their personal challenges but also be recognized for their family resilience in these tough times is a unique opportunity and we are excited to be a part of it.
We also appreciate the partnership of our Monmouth County school systems, public, private and parochial, which are participating through the distribution of the essay applications and volunteering teachers to serve as judges.
Whenever United Way of Monmouth County has an opportunity to convene our local business partners, community volunteers and the greater public together we consider it a successful mission; through these opportunities are able to increase awareness of our primary focus areas – education, income and health.
“Tough Times Can’t Take Away Our Sparkle and Shine” Essay Contest
“As KaBoom has expanded into KaBoomFest, our mission has also expanded, reaching into the community in a tangible and meaningful way through the Tough Times Can’t Take Away Our Sparkle and Shine essay contest,” says Reinhart.
